Make your work visible
Your actions tell a story, a unique one that belongs to you. It’s not just about the finished product, the process matters
Samantha Clarke
Samantha Clark is a visual artist, writer and artist's writing coach based in the Orkney Islands and working internationally.
Shaped by Orkney’s dynamic natural environment of wind, sky and particularly water, her recent work invites us to notice how water permeates everything: sea, lake, stream, cloud, rain, fog, tears, sweat, piss; as we inhabit a liquid reality that interpenetrates our own bodies and minds.
Originally trained as a tapestry weaver, Sam’s practice has evolved over thirty years through writing, drawing, installation, video and permanent works in the public realm, with painting as her primary current focus.
Lesley Mackay
“I am based in Deerness, Orkney where I walk the cliff paths and shore lines, and journey around the land by sea kayak.
Outside and in the studio I use water based mediums – usually acrylic, ink and graphite on paper, canvas and wood panel.”
Alison Moore Jewellery
Alison’s work reflects her own personal style and she aims to create unique pieces that are understated, timeless yet utterly contemporary. Her work is elegant, with simple yet distinctively clean lines. Gems add touches of colour, light and sparkle. Her sought-after jewellery is refreshingly pure, and most certainly to be treasured.
Here she is working on a Labradorite ring.
Zoe Davidson Jewellery
Zoe Davidson draws much of the inspiration for her unique jewellery from Orkney’s seas, coastlines and rich history. She designs and makes all her pieces, mixing traditional silversmithing techniques with more unusual processes, including fold-forming and anti-clastic raising.
